Challenge of Decarbonization
Next-generation Environmentally Friendly Car Carrier fueled by LNG
We have decided to procure eight 7,000-unit-class car carriers fueled by LNG (liquefied natural gas) by FY2023 to FY2025.
We are planning to substitute LNG fuel and other new fuels for conventional heavy fuel oil to achieve our proposed targets.

CENTURY HIGHWAY GREEN
In March 2021, one car carrier was delivered to “K” LINE.
This vessel, christened CENTURY HIGHWAY GREEN, is the first in the “K” LINE fleet to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel.
The vessel utilizes a variety of environmental measures and digital technologies as part of “K” LINE’s effort to improve safety, quality, and the environment, which are important issues for the company.

DRIVE GREEN PROJECT
Completion of the DRIVE GREEN HIGHWAY environmental flagship in 2016.
Compared to the Group’s existing vessels, it is capable of reducing CO2 emissions by more than 25%, NOx by more than 50% and SOx by more than 90% per vehicle carried.
